Medical Crew Requirements

Aeromed offers the most comprehensive training opportunities of any competing air ambulance provider in Alaska. Our requirements of the medical flight crews ensure that the highest quality patient care is delivered during all phases of every transport.

Advanced Training Requirements

  • Critical Care Transport Program (CCEMTP).
  • Transport Nurse Advanced Trauma Care program (TNATC).
  • Advanced Life Support-Obstetric (ALSO) training.
  • Flight Paramedic Review course.
  • Survival Training with Learn-To-Return.
  • Rotations at Alaska Native Medical Center in the Operating Room, Labor & Delivery and Pediatric ICU.
  • Rotation of crews with other bases to encourage new ideas and methods of operation.

Each of Aeromed’s eight full-time staff nurses is a Certified Flight RN. Aeromed’s Flight Paramedic Review Course produced a pass-rate on the Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C) exam of 82% (the national pass-rate average is 47%). Of the 17 paramedics employed with Aeromed, 13 are FP-Cs.

The National Flight Paramedics Association confirms that Aeromed has the highest concentration of FP-C’s of any air ambulance service in the United States.
